RUBICON Venture Scout Unit Pictures
I have been associated with Rubicon V.S.U. in one capacity or another since 1978.
This picture is of
the grand opening of Breadsall Scout Hut on the Saturday 18th of May 1985. Both the Scout
and Guide County Commissioners attended the opening ceremony. Pictured are members of
Rubicon cooking sausages, from the left me, Claire Munson, Robin Sibson, John Blount,
Andrew King, Robert Taylor, Michael Crowe and David Elks. The alter fire was temporarily
erected for the day and is still standing now.
This is a lunch
time stop during a back packing expedition from Taddington to Waterhouses. We are at the
Horseshoe Inn in Longnor on the 10th April 1993. The expedition members were Paul
Furmston, Paul Gamblen, Rich Martin, Robert Tatton-Jones.We had camped the first night at
Cold Springs Farm in Buxton, the second night at the Butcher's Arms, and the third night
in Alstonfield.
This is on the
same expedition sitting outside the Butchers Arms waiting for it to open after a long days
walking.
This is Rubicon

left are Rich Martin, Michael Bailey, Sarah Withey, William Bugg, Adrian Seal, Me, Andy
Gregory, Ann-Marie Gregory, Paul Gamblen, James Bardill, Paul Furmston and Francis Moffat.
In August 1997
Rubicon hired the 'Merlin' from the London Narrowboat Project. We navigated round the the
104 miles and 119 locks of the Warwickshire ring. This is us stopping to fill up with
water near Curdworth. We had been to Drayton Manor park earlier in the day. Present were
Adrian Seal, Sarah Withey, Me, Matt Smith, Helen Smith, Clare Preedy, Sam Owen, Paul Allen
and John Marsden.
This is the
following day when we arrived at Gas Street Basin in Birmingham.
